Alta Vista Motel is selling to new owners, Ryan and Denise Losette of Big Daddy’s Diner, next to the motel on the James Canyon Highway.
Cloudcroft Reader spoke with current Alta Vista owner Jerrilyn “Betty” Russell, who confirmed that the Losettes are purchasing the quaint motel, which directly neighbors their restaurant, Big Daddy’s Diner.
We also talked to Ryan Losette, who said,
“The paperwork hasn’t gone through yet.”
“It’s going to remain a hotel. I’ve got a silent partner who’s going to invest in it with me, a friend I used to work with. And then he’s going to come in with all the remodel money and we plan on majorly upgrading it.”
“We wouldn’t expect it to be done until, let’s see, probably next summer.”
“Everything needs to be gutted out. And it's all like shag carpet and stuff like that. We're ripping all that out and putting wood floors."
As for the name? Losette says,
“I think we’re going to name it ‘Inn the Clouds.’”
The Alta Vista Motel has a plat request at the upcoming September 3rd Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
Recently, Cloudcroft Reader reported on a surprising replat reversal from Mayor Turner involving the Skywater properties directly behind the Cloudcroft Brewing Company.
A Skywater Subdivision plat is on the agenda, which includes the following new business:
“1315 Burro Ave / Sign Permit
205 James Canyon Hwy/Awning/Bldg Permit – will be present if any questions
802 Chautauqua Canyon Plat Review
502 Woodland Way: Building Permit
Alta Vista Motel Plat Review
Skywater Subdivision Plat Review
Review building permit ordinance and CID”
