OHVs ripped through riprarian habitat. Now the area is closed for off-road motor vehicles and dispersed camping until August 31st.
The Lincoln National Forest has enacted an area closure for the Sacramento Ranger District, effective August 12, 2025, at 5:00 p.m..
This order applies to the Rio Penasco, Bluff Springs, Wills Canyon, and Agua Chiquita areas, prohibiting dispersed camping, off-road motor vehicle use, and campfires.
The closure aims to protect sensitive natural resources and reduce environmental degradation “due to illegal off-highway vehicle use, resource damage to riparian areas, and ongoing restoration efforts.”
The closure will remain in effect until August 31, 2026, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.

I think the perpetrators of the abuse at Bluff Springs, who were captured on video, should have been prosecuted instead of blocking all citizens from use of our public lands.
I believe there is no need to have RZS vehicles in this area at all, not even in the road. We should be more conscious of the fact that national forests are not playgrounds for us to do as we please.
