Meet the Mayor Night Recap
Last night, a crowd of all ages gathered at the lovely Lodge Pavilion to hear from mayoral candidates Gerald “Dusty” Wiley and Timothy E. King and participate in a lively Q&A.
Cookies prepared by the CHS Culinary Program disappeared quickly as candidates said why they wanted the payless, thankless gig and fielded questions from the audience and the Reader.
Contributing Editor and videographer Drew Gaines captured the night, and we look forward to sharing what both Wiley, King, and trustee candidates Keith Hamilton, Gail McCoy, and Danny Hardwick had to say.
Look for our video over the weekend. Special thanks to the Chamber of Commerce and the Lodge for sponsoring the event.
Your Wednesday Review continues after this brief message. Thank you to our sponsor, Osha Trail Depot located at 102 Mexican Avenue.
Join them on Saturday, October 25th for a silent auction, live music, chili from Brother-N-Law BBQ, and more to fundraise for a new helipad in Cloudcroft, in partnership with the Cloudcroft Sparkies. Want to donate to the silent auction? Call 575-551-2099 for more info.
Tiny Art Show Reception at Public Library
With nearly 60 entries, the annual Tiny Art Show is back at the Michael Nivison Public Library.
Join Library Director Sandra Barr, the artists, and the Friends of the Library for a reception and awards (cash prizes!) on Friday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the library.

The Reader Makes an Endorsement: Vote ‘Yes’ for the GO Bond
Along with candidates on the local ballot, Cloudcroft School’s General Obligation (GO) Bond is up for reelection.
We at the Reader support the GO Bond, which will not raise tax rates.
The bond will pay for crucial upgrades to security, technology, and school facilities for our ever-expanding school, which ranks number 8 in the state. Cloudcroft is the only public school on the list and the only school in southern New Mexico represented.
Hear School Board President Lance Wright and Superintendent Jocelyne Driscoll-Gillespie discuss the bond with our Reader Reel:
