First Look: The Grand Cloudcroft Hotel Opens Its Doors
The Grand Cloudcroft Hotel opened for business Friday, September 15, 2023. Get a peak at the inside of a fresh new addition to Cloudcroft's lodging options.
On Friday, September 15th, the long-awaited, locally owned, locally operated Grand Cloudcroft Hotel welcomed its first guests.
The Cloudcroft Reader toured the hotel this week and captured the pictures below to give you a peek at our newest neighbor.
When you first walk into the new Grand Cloudcroft Hotel lobby, you notice the generous use of wood to create an atmosphere befitting Cloudcroft's logging community history.
The hotel style looks clean and well-thought-out. The attention to detail is noticeable.
General manager Julie Bragg, a native Cloudcrofter and former ICU nurse, has been on board since January and has assembled a team of 15 staffers. She is understandably proud of what they have built.
"Everybody is the market," says Bragg. "We are affordable but with the feel of a luxury hotel. It feels modern while evoking a sense of Cloudcroft and its place in the mountains. "
When fully opened, the hotel will offer fifty rooms.
Weekday rates are $130. Weekend runs $140. All rooms have at least one king bed. You can book online at www.grandcloudcroft.com
An indoor year-round pool and hot tub are currently under construction.
The hotel offers a hot breakfast five mornings weekly, with muffins and cereal the other two days.
Free Wi-fi.
The concrete portion of the front lot has radiant in-laid heating to deter snow and ice. The roof and eaves likewise have an ice-melting system.
Underground parking has room for twenty cars and ten motorcycles. Ample surface parking is also available.
The hotel will be closed a few days this week for a final walk-through inspection. By October 4th, Bragg expects all rooms to be available.
Below are photos that give you a peek at Cloudcroft's newest lodging option, which should challenge The Lodge as Cloudcroft's most popular hotel.
