Update: Pickleball Courts to be repaired by PAC
After someone vandalized the public courts at Zenith Park with a big rock, the Pickleball Addicts of Cloudcroft volunteers are repairing the dings across the six newly surfaced courts.
Public Works Supervisor JJ Carrizal coordinated with the Albuquerque-based contractor who recently resurfaced the courts. They determined volunteers could do spot repairs, and Public Works could apply sanded acrylic paint left from the court resurfacing to chipped and scraped areas.
Repairs will not cost the village money; instead, they will require volunteer time and effort.
In other pickleball news, PAC regular Willie Repp donated a court dryer to help keep the courts dry. Follow Cloudcroft Pickleball on Facebook for seasonal updates.
Crevasse Comes to the Flickinger This Friday
The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will stop at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts in Alamogordo on Friday, October 9.
The traveling program draws from more than 400 films entered each year in the festival competition held in Banff, Alberta, and now screens in more than 600 communities across over 40 countries. The local screening features the tour's "Crevasse" program, six films ranging from a profile of a Norwegian amputee skier to a 6,900-kilometer crossing of the Canadian Far North and a first free ascent attempt in Patagonia.
General admission tickets are $15 and are available at flickingercenter.com, by calling (575) 437-2202, or at the box office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parks & Rec Fundraiser at Elevation Park, This Saturday
Magick Melts food truck, live music, prizes, and fun are planned for the Bucket Golf Tournament at Elevation Park this Saturday, starting at 11 am. Bri Jonnes, Parks and Recreation board member and buyer for High Altitude, organized the event, and all proceeds benefit the Village of Cloudcroft Parks and Recreation fund.

Air Force Volunteers Offer Snow Removal Program Again
Under the direction of Staff Sergeant William “Cody” Marquez, volunteers from Holloman Air Force Base are lending a helping hand to the village of Cloudcroft.
Elderly residents and others who struggle with snowfall are invited to sign up at the village office for help shoveling snow from their drives and walkways. The village will screen applicants and submit a list of eligible homes for the volunteer troop.
The group will use their own equipment and manpower—they’ve signed up to be “on call” for big storms to help those in need.
Volunteers can also sign up at the village office. For more information, drop by and chat with Utilities Clerk Ashley White.
