Lick Fire near Timberon, New Mexico: Saturday Morning Update
Check-in with Suppression Fire Management Officer Joe Kimble

The Lick Fire burns in a mixed conifer zone in the Lincoln National Forest (LNF) lands just 3 miles east of Timberon.
The Reader checked in with Suppression Fire Management Officer Joe Kimble early Saturday morning:
“I can tell you that crews made it into it last night. They were able to get a good size up on it; they said about an acre.”
“We were currently getting more resources en route this morning to help them take care of this thing and hold on to it. Especially today with the red flag warnings and the winds. Wanting to get some more resources in there to hold it.”
“It's in some heavy dead down timber. The fire spread was pretty low, low to moderate. So it really wasn't moving around very much. But it's it's still putting up some smoke and some concern, obviously.”
“It's not threatening Timberon in any way right now.”
LNF resources include two engines and a hand crew and are engaging the fire with a full suppression strategy. The Sacramento Hotshots and a Type 3 helicopter are ordered for the morning of Saturday, March 29th.
