Audio: Mayor Turner Resigns
His announcement to step down is a surprise. And a puzzle.
Mayor Craig Turner of Cloudcroft, NM, resigned Thursday evening, December 5th. A few weeks short of his first anniversary as Cloudcroft’s mayor, Turner decided to step down from his full-time, no-pay job, apparently due to struggles with the trustees on staff issues.
Our Council meeting coverage in November noted the development of friction over certain personnel issues.
The feed from the Facebook Live broadcast of the meeting went dead minutes before Mayor Turner announced his resignation. The Reader was present and recording audio on an iPhone. Here is audio of Mayor Turner’s resignation:

I trust that the Reader will continue to deep dive into the cronyism going on with the trustees. The mayor resigning smells, and it seems to be coming from Maynard’s chair.
