Officer Manzo Leaves Village PD, Joins Sheriff's Office
She said the move allows her to maintain a presence in Cloudcroft while working under a “fully supported and fully equipped agency.”
Newly graduated Officer Ali Manzo announced she has resigned from Cloudcroft PD to join the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, saying the decision came after conversations with her family.
“After talking to my family, it was clear the best choice was moving to a department that’s fully equipped, fully staffed, and fully supported.”
“I live here, so my intention is to patrol here. My intention is still to patrol here. But it was very clear that the best choice for me and my family… would be to move to a department where I could essentially have the best of both worlds — patrolling this community that I love and live in, but also being supported by the equipment, the level of training, the staffing… that comes with a big agency.”
She expressed gratitude toward Cloudcroft’s village council and said she will have more jurisdiction around Cloudcroft and Highway 82.
“I would never speak badly about any of it. I’m grateful for what they did for me.”
“My intention isn’t to leave. I will still physically be here — in uniform, in a truck, on a traffic stop, visiting the shops, doing Shop with a Cop. I’m still very actively part of the community.”
After Manzo’s departure, the village has no police officers on staff.
