In the first of a series of Cloudcroft Pulse opinion surveys, this questionnaire was sent to Reader subscribers, asking them to rate the current council’s job performance and rank village priorities.
The Reader polled our email subscribers (3,080) and posted the survey on the Reader Facebook page (13,100 followers). Several other Cloudcroft Facebook groups posted the survey.
The survey was open from Friday, August 22, 2025, til Sunday night, August 24, 2025.
There were 241 total respondents. Some did not answer all the questions. The results are the weighted average of the number of respondents per question.
Note: 115 eligible local voters participated. That represents 37% of the total number of people who voted in the last mayor election — a sizable sample population.
The results below are broken into two segments:
Votes by persons eligible to vote in local elections;
All respondents.
The results are strikingly similar in both segments, with the eligible voters slightly more critical of the job performance of local officials.
Respondents were local residents, seasonal second-home owners, and persons from surrounding communities who work, shop, and interact with the village in numerous ways.
On the question of the most important issues, sound financial management, water/sewage, roads, and fire mitigation were ranked by both groups as the most important topics to both groups.
At the end of the survey, respondents were given the opportunity to share any comments they had. 116 did. You can read all the comments, unedited, at this page: Survey Comments
