Village Hauling Water Again

To meet demands, the village is trucking in water.

The village has been hauling in water with funding from the Bureau of Reclamation, with 28 truck-ins left on the current contract.

On Sunday, January 11, Public Works Supervisor J.J. Carrizal informed the Reader that the village will start hauling water again with contracted Oasis Enterprises, LLC—ASAP.

Carrizal said:

“Our raw water tank was below 6 feet already today. Our high-service water pumps are about to turn on here in a little bit.”

“The demand going into town is a lot higher than what our water plant can produce.”

“Conserve water, please. Limit your showers. If you suspect a water leak, call it in. I don’t care—it could be a faucet dripping a little bit. Anything will help right now. 575-430-0092.”

“I don’t want to freak people out and say oh, we’re running out of water. Yes, we are low, but the demand is more than our water plant can produce.”

“That’s the problem. It’s going to happen every weekend.”

“The worst case scenario would be to come up a Standard Operating Procedure for a controlled outage. Maybe at night so we can let our wells and springs catch up and supplement the raw water tank.”

“That’s not gonna happen yet. That is absolutely our last option. We’ll have to use all our resources, asking the state for money, something, before we go to that. We’ll exhaust every possible way of getting this water.”

Carrizal implores citizens who hear water leaks to call in immediately to 575-430-0092.
