Empty Chair
The stretched-thin Village administrative staff just got stretched even thinner with the sudden resignation of Village Clerk Julie Pinson
On Monday, December 2nd, Cloudcroft Village Clerk Julie Pinson resigned from her position with the Village.
Pinson was hired as Clerk on July 1st of this year, and shortly unearthed a laundry list of missed tax filings and other unwelcome surprises in the village books.
Mayor Turner sent an email to the Village Trustees at 5:22 p.m. saying:
“This email is to alert you that Julie Pinson, Village Clerk, has resigned effective immediately. This is unfortunate because in the last few months she has completed clerk training, procurement training and recently budget and finance training. I felt we were turning the corner, and now we are back to square one, which sets us back 6 to 8 months.”
“I will post the opening on Indeed, (the) village website, and any other source I can find. I will also reach out to Rebecca Martinez with (the New Mexico Municipal League) to see if she knows of experienced clerks that might be interested. It’s very important to find an acting clerk or deputy clerk that has experienced with budgets, quarterly reports and other reports required by (the Department of Finance and Administration.) I will keep you updated with my progress.”
Pinson’s letter of resignation:
The Council has a Special Meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, December 5th to address the issues of the clerk position. The Reader will attend and report.
